Brittany Hannan-Samsonowicz
Hello! I’m Brittany Hannan-Samsonowicz, a therapist at RelationshipStore.
I specialize in art therapy with a focus on trauma, addiction, and self-discovery, and I enjoy working with women, families and couples, as well as high school and college-aged individuals.
I am a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), and Art Therapy Registered – Provisional (ATR-P) with RelationshipStore. I specialize in art therapy with a focus on trauma, addiction, and self-discovery, and I enjoy working with women, families and couples, as well as high school and college-aged individuals.
I believe art is a powerful medium for expression, communication, and self-exploration. Art therapy allows clients to access emotions and insights that can sometimes be difficult to put into words. I incorporate a wide variety of materials and creative approaches to help clients explore their experiences, build self-awareness, and support their healing.
My connection to this work is personal as well as professional. Having family members and close friends who have navigated addiction has shaped my understanding of the emotional complexities of recovery. This personal experience helps me support individuals and families as they work through healing, rebuild trust, and strengthen relationships.
In my practice, I bring creativity, humor, and expressive therapies into the therapeutic space. Along with art, I may integrate music, movement, or writing to enhance sessions. My clinical approach is holistic and grounded in the belief that the client is the expert on their own life.
I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from Adler University. I am additionally trained in Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), Seeking Safety, Mental Health First Aid, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), domestic violence intervention, and CPR.
Earlier in my career, I worked as a Behavioral Health Specialist in a transitional home, supporting adults with co-occurring disorders by teaching life skills and promoting independence. During graduate school, I also completed a social justice program focused on promoting health, inclusion, and equity within underserved communities.
My goal in therapy is to create a warm, welcoming, and safe environment. I use art, inspirational imagery, and thoughtful conversation to encourage connection and make the therapy space feel supportive and approachable.
Change can feel incredibly overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. I would be honored to walk alongside you on your healing and recovery journey.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with my bunnies, Cosmo and Baby, creating surrealist paintings, visiting interactive museums, traveling, cooking new recipes, and occasionally playing Minecraft or Mario Kart on the Nintendo Switch.
And if you’re curious, my favorite mantra comes from the movie Holes: “I’m tired of this, Grandpa!” - “Well, that’s too damn bad!”
