Get to Know Your Therapist:

Emma Hausfield

Hello, I’m Emma! I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community in identity exploration, as well as helping clients with stress reduction, anxiety, self-esteem, life transitions and more.

I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have three years of experience working in supportive mental health and community-based settings, including providing wraparound support to youth and families, and working with artists with developmental differences.

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by expectations from family, culture, relationships, or their own internal pressure. I care deeply about creating a space where you can slow down, reflect, and explore who you are outside of those expectations. Supporting identity development and helping you move toward self-trust and self-compassion is incredibly meaningful to me.

I chose to become a therapist because I know firsthand the impact that safe, supportive relationships can have during difficult seasons. Therapy offers a space where you can feel genuinely seen, heard, and cared for. I balance validation and safety with gentle challenge when it serves your growth. The therapeutic relationship itself is a powerful vehicle for growth, and I work to ensure you feel understood at your own pace.

Growing up in a rural, faith-centered community and later navigating academic, creative, and personal identity shifts has given me a strong understanding of how complex growth can be. I understand what it feels like to evolve beyond early narratives while still honoring parts of your story. My background in fine arts and ceramics allows me to approach therapy with creativity, patience, and comfort with process: including the messy, in-between stages of change.

I bring warmth, thoughtful curiosity, and a grounded relational presence into our work together. I pay close attention to patterns in communication, attachment dynamics, and the power systems that shape how you experience yourself and others. My approach is holistic and focuses on the integration of mind, body, identity, and context.

My work is deeply rooted in the belief that healing happens through safe, supportive relationships.

When I’m not in session, you’ll often find me working in ceramics, painting, sewing or crocheting, reading, exercising, cooking with friends, or spending time on the lake and in nature. Being part of a long-standing summer community in northern Michigan has deeply shaped my appreciation for connection and intergenerational relationships. My creative practice constantly reminds me of the value of play, curiosity, and staying connected to embodiment.

You do not have to have everything figured out to begin therapy. Whether you’re navigating identity, life transitions, trauma, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply, you deserve a space that honors your story.

I view therapy as both reflective and creative work. Like shaping clay, growth can feel messy before it takes form. But with patience, support, and intention, something meaningful and resilient can emerge. I would be honored to walk alongside you in that process.
