Get to Know Your Therapist:
Sage Prokaski
Hi! I'm Sage Prokaski (she/her/hers), a Counseling Intern and Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student. I specialize in anxiety, depression, stress management and self-confidence.
One of the things I'm most passionate about is helping clients recognize that they are not their past, but rather the author of their own story. As Wubbolding asserts, "history is not destiny," and I carry that belief into every session.
I recognize that each day, interaction, and moment is experienced differently by everyone. I guide my work with respect and empathy, and I never assume toknow the unique influences that shape a person's experience. My approach always puts your values, needs, and strengths at the center of our work together.
I tend to use a lot of metaphors to demonstrate understanding and offer insight into client concerns and strengths.. As appropriate, I also incorporate writing, humor, storytelling, and media into sessions. These are tools I've found useful for building insight, developing strategies, and highlighting progress along the way.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Communications and Media from DePaul University, with summa cum laude honors. The time I spent studying and exploring the influence of digital media is something I continue to carry with me into the counseling field.
When I'm not at the office, I enjoy listening to live music, watching (and analyzing!) movies, baking sweet treats, and playing video games.
What drew me to counseling was the idea of ‘making your dash count,’ referring to all the time a person spends alive. To me, this means helping others discover meaning in their life, however that looks for them. Together we will collaborate on goals that feel both manageable and aligned with what matters most to you.
I would be honored to support you on your journey of self-discovery, personal growth, and living more authentically.
